Community Guidelines

Rules for posts, discussions, comments, reviews and research papers.

Version 1.0Effective 2 Nov 2026

Vallume's community, including discussions, the forum, comments, reviews, research papers and profiles, works best when it is accurate, respectful and useful. These guidelines apply to everything you post. They form part of our Terms of Use.

1. Be respectful

  • Debate ideas, not people. No personal attacks, insults, threats or harassment.
  • No hate speech or content that demeans people on the basis of religion, caste, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other protected characteristic.
  • Respect the dignity of courts, judges and the profession. Criticism is welcome; abuse and contempt are not.

2. Be accurate and honest

  • Cite your sources when you state the law. Say when you are giving a personal view.
  • Do not knowingly post false or misleading information, or impersonate another person, advocate or authority.
  • Reviews must reflect your own genuine experience. Paid, fake or incentivised reviews are not allowed.
  • Research papers must be your own work, with sources properly attributed. Plagiarism leads to removal.

3. Protect privacy and confidentiality

  • Do not post anyone's personal details (phone numbers, addresses, identity documents) without consent.
  • Do not disclose identities protected by law, such as victims of sexual offences, children in conflict with law or parties in matters heard in camera.
  • Advocates must not disclose client confidences.

4. No soliciting or spam

  • Advocates may answer questions but must not solicit clients or advertise in breach of Bar Council of India rules.
  • No spam, repeated posts, referral links or unsolicited promotion.

5. Prohibited content

You must not post content that is prohibited by law, including content listed in Rule 3(1)(b) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, such as content that:

  • is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic or invasive of another's privacy;
  • is defamatory, or infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights;
  • threatens the unity, integrity, security or sovereignty of India, or public order;
  • incites violence or an offence, or is harmful to children;
  • contains malware, or is knowingly false and intended to mislead.

6. What happens when guidelines are broken

We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts, depending on how serious and repeated the breach is. Where we remove your content we will tell you why where reasonable, and you can ask us to review the decision by writing to legal@vallume.com.

7. Reporting

Use the report option on any post or comment, or follow our Grievance Redressal process. We review reports promptly and within the timelines required by law.
